I started my lacrosse career in 1997 at Keene High School as a sophomore. Lacrosse had not yet come to our small corner of New Hampshire and, thanks to a few new teachers who had recently come from college, we started the Keene High Lacrosse Club. This club would eventually turn into the varsity program that still exists.
I atteneded college at the University of Delaware and, after a year of realising that I was missing something in my life, I reached out to the club team there, and was advised that even if I was not very good, they would happily have another member. I started playing with a fun group of guys (one of whom graces the letter from the editor page of US Lacrosse magazine.) It was in Delaware that I learned that not everyone had just started playing. I learned A LOT about the sport and how you play.
After college, I moved up to Massachusetts and played in a few mens' leagues before moving around more, getting busy, and having a couple of kids. Lacrosse went by the wayside, but I still threw the ball around with my friends occasionally and kept looking up where an out of shape dad could play again.
In 2017 I moved back to Keene with my family, started exercising, and during the COVID lockdowns got interested in how I could start playing again.
After visiting The Fieldhouse in Swanzey, I started the Cheshire County Lacrosse Club (CCLC), a men's pickup style game. We still play every Tuesday evening,
Last year (2024), my older daughter joined up for the inaugural lacrosse club at Keene Middle School, and my younger daughter signed up for the first Girls Learn to Play session with Keene Crush. As they needed coaches, I took over coaching the girls that year.
Throughout 2024 and 2025, I've become more involved with Keene Crush, and now coach the boys 10U travel team.
I'm so excited for what the future holds with Keene Crush and would love for this group to gain more players at all levels for both boys and girls. Especially after seeing some of the other towns that we play, I keep thinking, "why not us?" Let's all work together and make Keene a hotbed for lacrosse in SW NH and even SE VT!
